March 16, 2023 6pm Arts Center of the Bluegrass, Danville, KY Book Talk and Signing
An Evening with Author Emily Bingham | March 16 | 6 to 7 pm
Our Winter 2023 “Power and Possibility” series explores the intersection of art and power, examining how humans use stories, music, and art to interpret our histories, our communities, and ourselves. Humanities subjects to be addressed include history, anthropology, and creative writing.
In this evening event, author Emily Bingham will discuss her book, “My Old Kentucky Home.” Her book unearths performances, recordings, and protests, tracing one song’s entrance into the bloodstream of American life and through to its twenty-first century reassessment. This is a revelatory account of how a melody can be so memorable but also so formed by forgetting is a story for a country yearning for healing. Joining Bingham in this evening’s event is Centre college professor Dr. Sara Egge who will be facilitating a question and answer session near the end of the talk. Come be a part of this evening event.
Following the event, Bingham will be available to sign her book “My Old Kentucky Home.” Bring your copy or purchase a copy after the event.
The Art Center is now offering wine, beer, and cocktails for sale by the glass during this event. Cocktail enjoyment will begin at 5:30 pm with last call at 7 pm.
